Justice? – Abolished?

I just read the n-tv news:

NTV = Changes to the blue checkmarks of X and Elon Musk

Fact is: The company X has been hit with a €120 million fine by the EU Commission under the Digital Services Act (DSA).

In my view, X brought a lot of this on itself. Let’s be honest:

The blue checkmark should really be reserved for genuinely verified users – not just anyone who pays for it. Hasn’t this occurred to the platform at all? 🙄

Elon Musk once wrote that you can’t buy happiness with money. I agree. But you also shouldn’t build your wealth on the misfortune of others!

On the other hand: Why is the DSA only cracking down so hard on X? Why isn’t the same scrutiny applied to WhatsApp?

I was bombarded via WhatsApp with unpleasant messages from abroad (e.g. from Nigerians) – and as I have already reported, this is no longer an isolated case.

No one can seriously call this isolated incidents anymore – and the DSA shouldn’t either.

Why is only Elon Musk (or rather X) being put through the wringer, while comparatively little happens with WhatsApp (Meta)? Where are the major consequences and reports about that?

To me, this looks very much like double standards – and I find that unjust.

I criticize, but I try to stay fair.

Ich habe gerade die n-tv-Nachrichten gelesen:

NTV = Änderungen der blauen Haken von X und Elon Musk

Fakt ist: Die Firma X wurde von der EU-Kommission nach dem Digital Services Act (DSA) zu einer Strafe von 120 Millionen Euro verurteilt.

Einige der Vorwürfe hat sich X meiner Ansicht nach selbst zuzuschreiben. Ganz ehrlich:

Der blaue Haken sollte wirklich nur verifizierten Personen vorbehalten bleiben – und nicht einfach käuflich sein. Ist das der Plattform wirklich nicht aufgefallen? 🙄

Elon Musk hat einmal geschrieben, man könne Glück nicht mit Geld kaufen. Dem stimme ich zu. Aber man sollte seinen Reichtum auch nicht auf dem Unglück anderer aufbauen!

Ich wurde über WhatsApp mit unangenehmen Nachrichten aus dem Ausland (z. B. von Nigerianern) bombardiert – und dies ist, wie ich bereits berichtet habe, kein Einzelfall mehr

Das kann niemand ernsthaft als Einzelfälle abtun – und die DSA sollte das eigentlich auch nicht.

Warum wird nur Elon Musk (bzw. X) so hart in die Mangel genommen, während bei WhatsApp (Meta) vergleichsweise wenig passiert? Wo sind die großen Konsequenzen und Berichte darüber?

Für mich sieht das stark nach doppeltem Maßstab aus – und das empfinde ich als ungerecht.

Und ihr – wie seht ihr das?

Ich lege mich wieder hin. Ist nicht meine Woche...🥶
