X as a Platform for Spam and Scams – The "Hazel" Bot

On October 12, 2025, while scrolling through my feed, I received yet another unsolicited message from a bot account on X.

The account "Hazel" (@green_benj13577) uses classic romance scam tactics. It promises sexual encounters, "free nude chat access" and uses invitation codes and suspicious shortened links. The profile was created in May 2025, has almost no real followers and follows the typical pattern of low-effort spam accounts.

Such bots are not just annoying. They pose a real danger: clicking on the links can lead to malware infection, phishing attempts to steal login data, or financial fraud. Especially vulnerable people (for example chronically ill or lonely users) can easily fall victim to these schemes.

This is part of a worrying development. X seems to be increasingly flooded with spam, bots and fraudulent accounts. The moderation appears insufficient, as such accounts continue to operate for months.

I reported the account immediately and blocked it. However, experiences show that reporting alone is often not enough. Stronger measures from the platform are urgently needed to protect users from this kind of systematic spam and scam attacks.

Am 12. Oktober 2025 erhielt ich beim Scrollen durch meinen Feed erneut eine unaufgeforderte Nachricht von einem Bot-Account auf X.

Das Konto „Hazel“ (@green_benj13577) arbeitet mit klassischen Romance-Scam-Methoden. Es verspricht sexuelle Kontakte, „kostenlosen Nude-Chat-Zugang“ und nutzt Einladungscodes sowie verdächtige verkürzte Links. Das Profil wurde im Mai 2025 angelegt, hat kaum echte Follower und entspricht dem typischen Muster einfacher Spam-Accounts.

Solche Bots sind nicht nur lästig. Sie stellen eine echte Gefahr dar: Das Anklicken der Links kann zu Malware-Infektionen, Phishing-Versuchen zum Stehlen von Zugangsdaten oder zu finanziellen Betrügereien führen. Besonders vulnerable Personen (z. B. chronisch Kranke oder einsame Nutzer) können solchen Maschen leicht zum Opfer fallen.

Dies ist Teil einer besorgniserregenden Entwicklung. X wird zunehmend mit Spam, Bots und Betrugsaccounts überschwemmt. Die Moderation scheint unzureichend, da solche Accounts teilweise monatelang aktiv bleiben können.

Ich habe den Account sofort gemeldet und blockiert. Die Erfahrung zeigt jedoch, dass Melden allein oft nicht ausreicht. Die Plattform braucht deutlich stärkere Maßnahmen, um Nutzer vor dieser Art systematischer Spam- und Betrugskampagnen zu schützen.
